GENERAL SERVICE FAQS

What types of services do you offer?

Amanda provides individual therapy for teens and adults, as well as neuroaffirming assessments for ADHD, autism, cognitive and learning challenges. Her therapy approach is strength based and trauma informed by Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) principles and is tailored to meet each persons unique needs.

What is neuroaffirming care?

Neuroaffirming care embraces the natural variation in humans, focusing on understanding and supporting an individual’s unique strengths and challenges without attempting to "fix" or change their natural way of being.

Who are your services for?

Services are designed for teens and adults seeking therapy or psychological assessments for neurodivergence (e.g., ADHD, autism) or other cognitive (e.g., thinking and learning), and emotional concerns (e.g., depression, anxiety, difficulty regulating emotions).

Do I need a GP referral?

No, you do not need a GP referral to book individual sessions, ADHD assessment, Autism assessment, or a Cognitive. However, the cost is full-fee. If you are seeking a learning assessment then a referral is required. Please contact Amanda over email for learning assessments.

What kind of Medicare rebates are there?

A Mental Health Treatment Plan referral from a GP allows access to Medicare rebates. Under a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) someone can have up to 10 rebates session per calendar year.

Where the client is under 25 and has been referred by a psychiatrist or paediatrician for an Autism Assessment you may also be eligible for some rebates from Medicare through the Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorder Medicare program.

What is the cost and length of sessions?

Individual therapy sessions are $225 for private and NDIS self-managed participants. NDIS plan-managed participant individual sessions are $240. Sessions go for 50-60 minutes. Longer sessions are available and charged at a pro-rata rate. Assessment pricing varies and can be found on the menu under Services > Adult Assessment and Services > Child Assessment.

Why is the cost higher for NDIS plan-managed sessions?

Self-managed sessions are paid on the day of service and then reimbursed from NDIS, this does not differ from a standard psychology session. Plan managed sessions are invoiced to plan managers and have additional administration (e.g., manual invoicing, time liaising with plan managers, payment follow up, and extended payment timeframes). My fee remains below the current NDIS limit of $252.99 for psychology sessions.

Do you charge for notes or session preparation?

There is no additional cost for notes, session preparation or compliance letters (e.g., progress updates to GP under MHTP). There are pro rata costs for additional services like support meetings, progress letters or developing individual resources. These will always be discussed in advance.

What age client do you work with for individual therapy?

Usually Amanda works with people individually aged 12 and over.
