I am highly skilled in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). DBT is a skills based form of therapy, which is validating and practical in application. Recently, I have also been trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). I am also familiar with Mindfulness based therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) frameworks.

INDIVIDUAL therapy FAQS
What can I expect during a therapy session?
Therapy sessions provide a safe, confidential space to explore your concerns and work toward your goals. Sessions may involve discussions, skill-building exercises, and reflective work tailored to your needs.
Do you offer individual sessions longer than 50-60 minutes?
In some situations longer sessions are required or preferred, though most will be suitable for the standard 50-60 minutes. Longer session are for up to 1.5 hours or 80-90 minutes. Please note. Medicare do not offer higher rebates for longer sessions.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies depending on your goals and needs. Some clients may require only a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term therapy.
What is your approach to therapy?
Amanda uses a person-centered, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach. This means it is tailored toward the individual and builds upon their unique strengths. Mostly commonly I use DBT therapy, which focuses on increasing skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness and communication.
Can therapy help after a diagnosis of ADHD or autism?
Yes. Therapy can help people better understand and manage their experiences as a neurodivergent person, providing tools and strategies to navigate challenges while emphasising self-acceptance.
I have a Mental Health Treatment Plan, what do I need to know?
The current rebate is $98.85 for a generally registered psychologist. Medicare rebates cannot be processed before the payment has been made in full or the session has occurred, so they are processed on day of service after payment has been made. Medicare pay the rebated amount into the bank account you nominated previously with them. If you have exceeded your safety net you may receive up to 80% of the session fee.
